HELICOPTER

I got history, I got stories, I got friends n’ roads walked down

I turned corners, without goodbyes, left my memories on the ground

I seen flowers, Through a child’s eyes, been to church n’ sang sweet songs

Left them all in little boxes, turned my head and stumbled on

CHORUS

If I could take a helicopter, up into these heady skies

Look in all them little boxes, that I thought to leave behind

I’d take the hand of every friendly face that’s figured in my life

An stretch a chain to save my soul, wanderin’ cold

Out on the edge of night

Wash the dishes, clean the kitchen, straightened all that I could find

Just to give myself a reason, try an ease my troubled mind

Now it’s dark out, where’d the day go, I was gonna sing my song

But I didn’t take the time, now my day’s dead an gone

CHORUS

Just today, my good wife told me, “lord I didn’t take your hand

Just to watch you, tear yourself down, double guessin’ all your plans

What you need is right here waitin’, what you want, well that’s inside

Take a deep breath, say a strong prayer, n’ lets get busy livin’ life

Then you can take a helicopter, up into these heady skies

Look in all them little boxes, that you thought to leave behind

You can take the hand of every friendly face that’s figured in your life

An stretch a chain to save your soul, wanderin’ cold

Out on the edge of night
